Watching 4oD with Unotelly

While BBC’s iPlayer has usually lots of good programmes on I’ve been missing catch-up TV from channel 4 at times.

The service from Unblock Us (as described in my previous post) unfortunately doesn’t seem to work with 4oD. No worries, Unotelly to the rescue! Same kind of service, same kind of cost but 4oD works beautifully with them.

Another advantage is that they support automated update of your IP address when it is changed by a forced disconnect by your ISP. While I had to jump through a few loops to get it working in an automated fashion with Unblock Us, it is quite straightforward with Unotelly:

When you update your IP address on their website you’ll see a link looking like this:

http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/auto_auth/hash_update/updateip.php?user_hash=<INSERT YOUR USER HASH>

<INSERT YOUR USER HASH> will actually be a unique string of characters which identifies your account. Be sure to change this in the command below.

This link is all you need to update your IP address. As described in my previous post, if you’re using Tomato OS on your router you can just add a command to have that link opened when your router reconnects to the internet:

wget http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/auto_auth/hash_update/updateip.php?user_hash=<INSERT YOUR USER HASH>

And you’re done: watch 4oD on any device in your house!
